Our leadership team
Our Executive Leadership team is responsible for the strategy and direction of the company, and is made up of the following individuals:
Susan Ring, Chief Executive
Susan joined Capita in May 2011 as Regional Managing Director for the south, managing both financial and operating performance, as well as client relationships for approximately 15 key corporate partners.
Prior to joining Capita, Susan was CEO for Unum Limited, the market leader in Group Risk, for eight years whilst also being a member of the Unum Group executive team with responsibility for overall company strategy and performance. Susan was a member of the Unum Board and five other subsidiary boards. Previous roles included Chief Operating Officer and Director of Risk Management.
Susan is a graduate of Warwick University and a Chartered Company Director.
Katharine Angus, Director Pensions Management (Private Sector)
As Director of our Pensions Management Practice, Katharine heads up the team which handles the management and delivery of all pension schemes, with responsibility for all elements of delivery in the provision of defined benefit and defined contribution servicing, member services, payroll and scheme finance and treasury.
She joined us in January 2015 from Aon Hewitt, where she was the UK Operations Director responsible for the management and delivery of service to all their pension schemes. During her 18 years at Aon she also carried out client management and project management roles, but spent the bulk of her time in operations. Prior to joining Aon, Katharine worked at Scottish Widows.
Katharine has over 20 years in the pensions industry and recognises that the employee benefits industry faces unique regulatory requirements that often change. Not only does she know that the services have to adapt to meet these needs, she also understands the importance of creating high-performing teams and successfully taking them through these changes. Her extensive experience of running large operations will have a key part to play in her role, focusing on the delivery of any transformational projects and keeping our services in tune with our clients’ needs.
Katharine has an MA from the University of Edinburgh.
Glen Campbell, Director Employee Benefits and Reward
Glen heads the team focused on the design, implementation and management of employee benefits solutions, from DC pensions through to health, risk and flexible benefits.
Glen is a firm believer in a holistic approach to employee benefits, ensuring that the client propositions developed are aligned to broader HR and corporate reward goals.
An Associate of the Pensions Management Institute and qualified in reward management through the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, he has been successfully delivering effective employee benefits solutions for clients for over a decade.
Stuart Heatley, Director Sales, Marketing and Client Services
Stuart joined the business in November 2014 and brings with him over 30 years of client-facing experience in the pensions industry. However, Stuart isn’t totally new to the Capita Group, as he was previously Sales and Marketing Director for Capita Hartshead.
Prior to Capita, Stuart held posts as Managing Director of Benefits Administration, Managing Director of Sales and Head of Sales for EMEA businesses. He was also Head of Client Delivery at Scottish Life, where he was responsible for the implementation and management of large-scale transformational client development projects.
Stuart has a strong track record in maximising growth potential and delivering client services successfully and he oversees the strategic implementation of new sales initiatives at Capita Employee Benefits.
Julie Stothard, Director Actuarial and Investment Consulting
Julie heads the team team responsible for the delivery of our actuarial, secretarial and consultancy services to defined benefit pension schemes.
Julie has been with the firm for three years since joining from Towers Watson, where she was a Partner.
She believes that actuaries and consultants should not sit on the fence; they have a vital role to play in assisting trustees to manage and de-risk their schemes through the provision of clear and concise advice and opinion.
Derek Turnbull, Director Business Solutions and Pensions Management (Public Sector)
Derek heads the team focused on new client implementations, data management, tracing and software consulting services across all sectors and is also responsible for the management of our pensions management services within the public sector.
Derek, who has been with the firm since 2001 and whose background in operational and project management in the public sector gives him unrivalled experience in the delivery of large-scale transition and transformation projects, is now responsible for the management and delivery of all transformation and change projects across all practices within the firm. To date, Derek has successfully overseen the implementation of services to over 250 clients and has managed the acquisition and integration of seven businesses into Capita Employee Benefits.
Derek believes that the wide range of skills and experience within his team and the robust controls and processes they utilise are vital to ensuring that we can deliver the services our clients need in the ever-changing world of pensions.
